La storia con il testo
CoordinatorHello everyone, and thanks for coming to our volunteer welcome session. My name's Sarah and I coordinate the volunteers here at Green Lane Animal Shelter.
CoordinatorAt the moment we look after about sixty dogs and forty cats, plus a few rabbits. Most of them are here because their owners couldn't keep them, not because they were badly treated.
CoordinatorSo, what will you be doing? For the first month, everyone starts in the same way: cleaning, feeding and helping in the laundry. I know it doesn't sound very exciting, but it's how you get to know the animals and the routines. After that, you can choose to train as a dog walker or work with the cats.
CoordinatorWe ask volunteers to come at least once a week for a minimum of three hours. You don't need any experience, but you must be over sixteen, and if you're under eighteen, we need a form signed by a parent.
CoordinatorA couple of important rules. Never feed the animals anything that isn't on their feeding chart, even if they look hungry. Some of them are on special diets. And always wash your hands between rooms, because illnesses can spread very quickly.
CoordinatorFinally, we'd love you to help at our open day on the twelfth of May. It's our biggest event of the year and it's when most adoptions happen. Right, let's go and meet the dogs!
