ManagerThanks for coming in, Ryan. So, you've applied to work at our summer camp. Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
RyanSure. I'm nineteen and I'm studying sports science at university. I'm in my first year. I've always loved working with children, and I've been a swimming coach at my local club for two years.
ManagerThat's great experience. Our camp is for kids between eight and fourteen. What would you do if a child didn't want to take part in an activity?
RyanI think I'd try to find out why first. Maybe they're nervous, or they don't get on with the others. I wouldn't force them, but I'd encourage them to try something small, like just watching for ten minutes.
ManagerGood answer. The job involves long days. We start at eight in the morning and finish at six, and sometimes there are evening events too. Is that a problem?
RyanNot at all. I'm used to early starts because of swimming training.
ManagerDo you have a first aid certificate?
RyanNot yet, but I've booked a course for next month.
ManagerPerfect, because it's essential for the job. The position is from the first of July to the end of August, and we pay four hundred pounds a week, plus meals.
RyanThat sounds great. Is accommodation included?
ManagerYes, staff stay in the cabins on site. You'll share with one other member of staff. Do you have any other questions?
